An iron-bearing cover overlying a sulfide deposit and consisting essentially of a mass of hydrated iron oxides left by percolating waters. 2, record 1, English, - gossan
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Goethite is the major constituent of the gossan at the surface of metalliferous veins ... 9, record 1, English, - gossan
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The Cornish term "gossan" is applied to chemically weathered, iron-stained outcrops of sulfide mineral deposits. Synonyms include the French "chapeau de fer", the German "eiserner Hut", and the Spanish "colorados". The term "pacos ore" is used in Bolivia for gossans over tin veins that are residually enriched in cassiterite. Most workers reserve the term "capping" for gossans over disseminated sulfide deposits of the porphyry copper type. 4, record 1, English, - gossan

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
6, record 1, French, - chapeau%20de%20fer
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
5, record 1, French, - chapeau%20de%20fer
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
7, record 1, French, - chapeau%20de%20fer
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 3 CONT
3, record 1, French, - chapeau%20de%20fer
