Placing white space between the characters of individual words in order to create a justified (even left- and right-hand margins) column of text.

OBS

Although technically speaking, character spacing can be either vertical or horizontal, it is usually horizontal. When the type is unspecified, which is often the case, horizontal spacing is implied.

OBS

Some systems have very sophisticated schemes, with spacing assigned according to character width (even with non-proportionally-spaced fonts), creating a print-like appearance.

Todos los tipos de caracteres están diseñados con un espaciamiento fijo o proporcional. Al usar el espaciamiento fijo todas las celdas de caracteres tienen el mismo ancho, mientras que con el espaciamiento proporcional el ancho de cada celda de carácter depende del tamaño del carácter.
