Le sujet observe, binoculairement, un fil central vertical; des autres fils, placés à la périphérie, l'observateur voit la moitié supérieure avec un œil et la moitié inférieure avec l'autre. On déplace chaque fil, indépendamment des autres, jusqu'à ce que les deux moitiés se trouvent alignées.
