The attitude reference system is designed to provide a standby attitude indicator that is powered by a source independent of the aircraft electrical generating system. The system will provide reliable attitude information for at least 30 minutes after a total failure of the aircraft electrical system.

The sump in each trench is monitored for at least 5 years and any subsidence in the cap is filled to maintain its water-shedding ability. Monitoring wells at the perimeter of the facility have not detected migration of nuclides after more than 15 years of operation.
