The establishment of CIDA's Indigenous Issues Secretariat (IIS) within its Policy Branch. The mandate of the IIS is to identify and promote opportunities for the Agency to provide direct development support to IPs, and to promote consideration of IP development issues in mainstream programming for poverty reduction and sustainable development. Secrétariat de l'ACDI sur les questions autochtones : créé au sein de la Direction générale des politiques, le Secrétariat a pour mandat de cerner et de promouvoir les possibilités qui s'offrent à l'Agence de fournir un soutien direct en matière de développement aux peuples autochtones, ainsi qu'à favoriser l'intégration des questions de développement touchant les peuples autochtones dans les programmes de base axés sur la réduction de la pauvreté et le développement durable.
