Depuis le début de la décennie [années 1980], l'augmentation du nombre de plaintes relatives à la qualité de l'air et à la ventilation dans les édifices à bureaux préoccupe les occupants. Il s'agit de plaintes liées au confort et à la santé, telles que irritation des yeux, du nez ou de la gorge, fatigue mentale, maux de tête ou encore hypersensibilité non spécifique.
