Sonchus asper (L.) Hill. An annual weedy plant 50-150 cm high. Leaves clasping stem at base, slightly lobed or divided; leaf lobes usually having spinetipped teeth; basal lobes rounded. Flowers 12-25 cm across, pale yellow.
