In an operating budget, a calculation that factors out the length of time an employee works each week.

OBS

For example, if the scheduled hours of work were the same as the assigned hours of work and both had values of more than 30, the employee is deemed to be full-time. Where the assigned hours of work are less than the scheduled hours of work, the employee is working part-time. The full-time equivalent (or the portion of a full-time schedule worked by the part-time employee) is the ratio of the assigned hours of work to the scheduled hours of work.

Treasury Board no longer allocates or controls person-years. The government now indicates the size of the public service by using the full-time equivalent which considers casual employment, term employment, job sharing and so on.

Fait notable, les années-personnes ne sont plus réparties ou contrôlées par le Conseil du Trésor. Le gouvernement fait désormais état de la taille de la fonction publique au moyen de la notion d'équivalent temps plein, qui tient compte de l'emploi occasionnel, de l'emploi pour une période déterminée, du partage d'emploi, etc.

L'article 1.2.2 du Guide du rédacteur du Bureau de la traduction recommande de ne pas mettre d'accent sur les sigles. Il faudra donc utiliser le sigle ETP et non ÉTP.
