Photosynthesis is the chemical process where plants and some bacteria can capture and organically fix the energy of the sun. ... The main product of photosynthesis is a carbohydrate, such as the sugar glucose, and oxygen which is released to the atmosphere. All of the sugar produced in the photosynthetic cells of plants and other organisms is derived from the initial chemical combining of carbon dioxide and water with sunlight. This chemical reaction is catalyzed by chlorophyll acting in concert with other pigment, lipid, sugars, protein, and nucleic acid molecules. Sugars created in photosynthesis can be later converted by the plant to starch for storage, or it can be combined with other sugar molecules to form specialized carbohydrates such as cellulose, or it can be combined with other nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, to build complex molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. 3, record 23, English, - photosynthesis

1, record 48, French, - inhibition%20par%20exc%C3%A8s%20de%20substrat

The techniques that are used to infer atmospheric conditions on the model grid generally depend (at least at some point) upon a process called objective analysis. Objective analysis serves two functions: 1) it provides estimates of fields at locations and times other than those of the observations and 2) it filters the input [i.e., it removes a portion of the input (hopefully noise) and retains other portions of the input (hopefully signal)]. 3, record 72, English, - objective%20analysis

1, record 72, French, - analyse%20objective

Carbon-14 Method. Radiocarbon dating techniques, first developed by the American chemist Willard F. Libby and his associates at the University of Chicago in 1947, are frequently useful in unravelling time-related problems in archaeology, anthropology, oceanography, pedology, climatology, and recent geology. Through metabolic activity, the level of carbon-14 in a living organism remains in constant balance with the level in the atmosphere or some other portion of the earth's dynamic reservoir, such as the ocean. Upon the organism's death, carbon-14 begins to disintegrate at a known rate, and no further replacement of carbon from atmospheric carbon dioxide can take place. The rapid disintegration of carbon-14 generally limits the dating period to approximately 50,000 years, although the method is sometimes extended to 70,000 years. Uncertainty in measurement increases with the age of the sample. Carbon dating works well on organic specimens such as wood, bone and cloth that are between 2 000 and 20 000 years old. 2, record 86, English, - carbon%2D14%20method

2, record 98, French, - assimilation%20de%20postes

Coconut. ... The nuts are sold on the spot in tropical countries and opened in front of the buyer who quenches his thirst by drinking coconut water, a delicious and bacteriologically sterile drink, with a straw. The dietetic virtues of coconut butter have ... been praised. It is very easy to digest and assimilate. Thanks to its composition, coconut butter is relatively stable to rancidity. The nut is a flavouring ingredient for the making of cakes and sweets. 3, record 99, English, - coconut%20butter

3, record 99, French, - beurre%20de%20coco
