Roof Bolt Plates: Shape, square only, mostly 6 x 6 in.; some 5 x 5 in. and 4 x 4 in. Material, mostly 1/4-in. mild steel, which is cup-embossed or with doughnut impression for increased stiffness, particularly for 6 x 6-in. plates. A few mines use 3/8-in. flat plates. Several use hardened cut-steel washers to reduce the friction between the bolt head and roof bolt plate during tightening of the bolt. 8, record 1, English, - roof%20bolt%20plate

A channel section steel arch support consisting of three elements or sections. The three elements overlap and yield by sliding one upon the other under the constraint of bolted clamps. They are set close up to the face of the tunnel. The centre or crown element is usually fore-set to give temporary protection until the complete arch is erected. The arch is used widely in France and West Germany. 2, record 3, English, - Toussaint%2DHeintzmann%20arch
