Un niveau de bruit de fond dans un local est acceptable lorsqu'il n’ interfère pas avec les activités pour lesquelles le local est prévu. Dans les grandes salles industrielles, les limites de bruit peuvent être basées sur les niveaux relativement élevés tolérés par les règlements en matière de bruit au travail.
