The increased emphasis on Acadian affairs made the government and elected officials more aware of the presence and importance of the French-speaking population in Nova Scotia. 2004 was declared "Acadia Year", and the Acadian flag will fly in front of the provincial legislature all year long. A bill was tabled officially declaring August 15 as a provincial holiday for Acadians.

Once the surplus energy block that is available has been allocated, those customers whose ranking (dependent on bid price) are lower that the last accepted bid price, will have to wait until the next surplus energy offer an then send a new bid.
