The Professional and Institutional Development Program is a proposal-based program which funds governance capacity development projects. Each Region of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada has an independent budget for the Professional and Institutional Development Program, for use in funding projects that will benefit the governance capacity of First Nations and Inuit communities in that Region. The objective is: To develop the capacity of First Nations and Inuit communities to perform core functions of government, by funding governance-related projects at the community and institutional levels. The Electronic Service Delivery Clearinghouse provides information on electronic service delivery for government officials: it is a repository of research, policies and best practices associated with improving government services through technology. Sponsored by the Public Sector Chief Information Officers Council (PSCIOC) and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC), the purpose of the Clearingshouse is to help program managers within governments face the opportunities and challenges of ESD. It does this by providing them with a timely, accessible and constantly growing source of information on the practice of ESD within Canada and around the world.

Ils ont le potentiel d’améliorer l'efficacité et la transparence et de favoriser l'échange d’information entre les gouvernements. Malgré ces faits, de nombreuses questions demeurent quant à la meilleure façon d’appliquer la technologie des services électroniques. S’ ils souhaitent assurer la meilleure prestation de services possible pour leurs programmes, les gestionnaires doivent prendre connaissance des ressources, des politiques et des recherches mises à leur disposition. C'est pourquoi le Conseil des DPI du secteur public(CDPISP) et L'Institut d’administration publique du Canada(IPAC) ont unis leurs efforts pour mettre sur pied le Carrefour d’information sur la prestation électronique des services. Ce site Web consiste en une bibliothèque en ligne dans laquelle se trouvent les pratiques gouvernementales, les contacts et les questions se rapportant aux services électroniques. Il s’agit d’un outil de travail destiné aux gestionnaires de programmes de la fonction publique de toutes les juridictions canadiennes et à leurs employés.
