Infiltration flooding. After a few days of steady rain, when spring snow-melt occurs or during an extreme rainfall event, the soil around [the] home can become saturated with water. Steady snow-melt and precipitation can also raise the ground water level to a point where it is higher than [the] basement floor. This groundwater can infiltrate into basements through cracks in basement walls (or foundation walls) and cracks in basement floors. Infiltration flooding can be a significant problem in older homes where mortar has weakened over the years and cracks have developed in stone or cinder block foundations. 1, record 3, English, - infiltration%20flooding

3, record 52, French, - %C3%A9coulement%20hypodermique
Record number: 52, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Water Potential is defined as the potential energy of water per unit mass of water in the system. The total water potential of a sample is the sum of four component potentials: gravitational, matric, osmotic, and pressure. Gravitational potential depends on the position of the water in a gravitational field. Matric potential depends on the adsorptive forces binding water to a matrix. Osmotic potential depends on the concentration of dissolved substance in the water. Pressure potential depends on the hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure on the water. 3, record 58, English, - total%20water%20potential
