Debonding between layers that are initially stuck together is an important potential distress mode in multilayered structures. The risk may be the bond between the support and the long-life pavement surface layers ... or between the binder course and the wearing course in the case of a two-layer composite surface course. The main cause of debonding is traffic, which can induce debonding ... Variations of temperature with depth and time and intrusion of water (or water condensation) between layers can exacerbate the mechanism. 2, record 1, English, - debonding

2, record 1, French, - d%C3%A9collement%20d%27interface

When wheat is milled into flour some of the starch granules in the endosperm are broken. This damaged starch absorbs much more water than the undamaged granules. If too little damaged starch is in the flour, it will be difficult to mix normal to high-hydration doughs. If there is too much, the flour will exhibit high absorption, but the loaf may flatten at the end of proofing as the excess water is released. SEB is the toxin that most commonly causes classic food poisoning. It also has been demonstrated to cause a nonmenstrual toxic shock syndrome (TSS). SEB has been studied as a potential biological agent of war, since it easily can be aerosolized, is very stable, and can cause widespread systemic damage, multiorgan system failure, and even shock and death when inhaled at very high dosages. However, SEB is classified as an incapacitating agent because, in most cases, aerosol exposure results not in death, but in a temporary though profoundly incapacitating illness lasting as long as 2 weeks. 1, record 25, English, - staphylococcal%20enterotoxin%20B

The basis of a water-based flexo ink is usually pigment dispersed in acrylic resin solution, stabilized with an amine. The pigment is normally a crystalline organic powder, ground to an extremely fine dispersion using a bead-mill. The fine particle size gives the printer improved color strength and prevents clogging of the anilox. For white ink, titanium dioxide pigment is used. And for black ink, carbon black powder is used ... The dispersion of pigment in solution acrylic resin is mixed with acrylic emulsions and additives. The blend of acrylic emulsions has a great influence on properties observed in the final ink, such as gloss, drying speed, rub resistance and water resistance. 1, record 60, French, - d%C3%A9formation%20libre

The major effects of refining on the individual fibers are summarized in Table 13-1. The initial action is to partially remove the primary wall. Although the primary wall is permeable to water, it does not swell and prevents the fiber from swelling. Removal of the P-layer exposes the secondary wall and allows water to be absorbed into the molecular structure. The consequent loosening of the internal structure promotes fiber swelling and renders the fiber soft and flexible. This so-called "internal fibrillation" is generally regarded as the most important primary effect of refining following removal of the primary wall. The further action of (external) fibrillation involves loosening of the fibrils and raising of the finer microfibrils on the surfaces of the fibers, resulting in a very large increase in surface area for the beaten fibers. 1, record 64, English, - external%20fibrillation

The Committee [on Geotextiles, Geomembranes, and Related Products] has defined permittivity of a geotextile as the volumetric flow rate of water per unit cross-sectional area per unit head under laminar flow conditions, in the normal direction through a geotextile.... Calculated using the Darcy equation, permittivity is actually the coefficient of permeability divided by fabric thickness.... Permittivity values provide a fair comparison of permeability between fabrics and also allow for calculation of a Darcy's coefficient of permeability if necessary. 2, record 66, English, - permittivity

3, record 69, French, - panneau%20poreux
