Primary disinfection is the application of a disinfectant in the drinking water treatment plant, with a primary objective to achieve the necessary microbial inactivation. The efficacy of disinfection using chlorine can be predicted based on a knowledge of the residual free chlorine concentration, temperature, pH, and contact time. This relationship is commonly referred to as the CT concept and is used by public drinking water suppliers as one tool for ensuring adequate inactivation of organisms during disinfection. CT is the product of the residual concentration of disinfectant (C), measured in mg/L at the outlet of the contact chamber, and the disinfectant contact time (T), measured in minutes. The CT values required to achieve the necessary inactivation will depend on the microorganism targeted, pH, and temperature. 1, record 2, English, - CT%20concept

2, record 4, French, - d%C3%A9p%C3%B4t%20de%20corrosion

Waterless urinals don't flush, they drain by gravity. Their outflow pipes connect to a building's existing plumbing system. Besides the water savings, with waterless urinals, no limescale is deposited within the plumbing. Deodorization is the number one maintenance issue that waterless urinals face. 2, record 36, French, - norme%20quantitative

Aquatic weeds can be grouped by the following categories: algae, and emersed, floating, submersed and marginal (shoreline) weeds. Algae are green, stringy mats, sometimes called "pond scum". Algae are primitive plants without leaves, stems or roots. Emersed aquatic weeds generally are rooted in the soil, with part of the plant growing above the water surface. ... Floating aquatic weeds are seed-bearing plants that float freely on the surface of the water or have leaves that float on the surface, connected by long stems to roots in the lake bottom. Submersed aquatic weeds are rooted in the soil and the entire plant is under the surface of the water. Some submersed aquatic weeds have flowers that emerge above the water surface. Marginal aquatic weeds can be herbaceous or woody and grow around the margins of the water. Marginal aquatic weeds may grow either in the shallow water or along the banks of the shoreline. 3, record 48, English, - aquatic%20weed

4, record 59, French, - bassin%20biologique

The PREPA facility produces 20 percent of the island's steam generated electricity. The plant uses nearly 1.3 million gallons of water daily. This torrent is processed by four boilers enabling four steam units to produce 602 megawatts of power. However the Puerto Rican water company supplies water with a mineral concentration of 200 parts per million (ppm). Injecting such water at a high temperature directly into the boilers could destroy them immediately. So a demineralizing plant must purify the water using resin beds and employing control based on the measurement of such factors as conductivity pH soda and acid concentration. 1, record 93, English, - demineralizing%20plant

Building Related Illness (BRI) ... refers to a defined illness with a known causative agent resulting from exposure to the building air. While the causative agent can be chemical (e.g., formaldehyde), it is often biological. Typical sources of biological contaminants are humidification systems, cooling towers, drain pans or filters, other wet surfaces, or water damaged building material. Symptoms may be specific or mimic symptoms commonly associated with the flu, including fever, chills, and cough. Serious lung and respiratory conditions can occur. Legionnaires' disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and humidifier fever are common examples of building related illness. 7, record 100, English, - building%2Drelated%20illness
