3, record 18, French, - eau%20profonde%20de%20l%27Atlantique%20Nord

The oceans are mostly composed of warm salty water near the surface over cold, less salty water in the ocean depths. These two regions don't mix except in certain special areas. The ocean currents, the movement of the ocean in the surface layer, are driven mostly by the wind. In certain areas near the polar oceans, the colder surface water also gets saltier due to evaporation or sea ice formation. In these regions, the surface water becomes dense enough to sink to the ocean depths. This pumping of surface water into the deep ocean forces the deep water to move horizontally until it can find an area on the world where it can rise back to the surface and close the current loop. This usually occurs in the equatorial ocean, mostly in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This very large, slow current is called the thermohaline circulation because it is caused by temperature and salinity (haline) variations. 2, record 19, English, - deep%20water

3, record 43, French, - tremplin

It is due to the increase in density of water above and below 39.2°F (4°C, the temperature of minimum density). 4, record 64, French, - oxyg%C3%A9noth%C3%A9rapie%20hyperbare

The submersible platforms have been developed from earlier submersible barges which were used in shallow inlet drilling along the United States Gulf Coast. The platforms are towed to location and then submerged to the sea bottom. They are very stable and can operate in areas with soft sea floors. Difficulty in towing is a disadvantage, but this is partially offset by the rapidity with which they can be raised or lowered, once on location. 3, record 71, English, - submersible%20platform

3, record 79, French, - %C3%A9coulement%20hypodermique
Record number: 79, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Absolute atmospheres (or Atmospheres absolute, or ATA) - The ambient pressure including the air column over the water. The air column = 1 atm. at sea level. In sea water, another atmosphere is added each 33 FSW. There is an increase in pressure per foot of sea water equivalent to 1/33 or .03030303. So ATA may be calculated by multiplying the depth (FSW) by .0303030 and then adding 1 for the air above the water. i.e. the ATA at 46 FSW = (46 [asterisk] .0303030) + 1 = 2.3939 ATA. to convert ATA to FSW.ATA - 1 [asterisk] 33 = FSW. 5, record 85, English, - foot%20of%20sea%20water

The mucin layer is composed of glycoproteins. It is the thinnest and innermost layer of the tear film, and serves two primary functions: First, since it is "water attracting" near the aqueous layer, it enables that layer to spread smoothly over the surface of the cornea. Second, since mucin is "water repelling" near the corneal surface, it protects the delicate structure of the corneal epithelium. 2, record 98, English, - mucin%20layer
