The relative lack of wetlands and presence of permafrost means that there is only a limited area and depth in which melt-water can be stored, so that the spring melt-water typically runs quickly off the land rather than soaking into the ground and being released slowly over a long time period. Fluvioglacial deposits. They are the result of meltwater transportation and deposition. They tend to be stratified and consist of rounded or sub-rounded particles. The extent and type of stratification is largely a function of the environment of deposition, while the shape of the particles is a function of the source of the debris. 3, record 25, English, - fluvioglacial%20deposits
