EAUX VERTES [5 records]

Record 1 2023-12-13

English

Subject field(s)
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Urban Planning
  • Water Resources Management
  • Climate Change
CONT

Green streets are designed to capture rainwater at its source, where it falls, providing water for plants and trees to grow and at the same time acting as a natural filter to clean the water before it makes its way into local waterways.

OBS

A green street integrates green infrastructure elements into the street design to manage stormwater and reduce stormwater runoff. Permeable pavement, bioretention areas, underdrains, planter boxes, and planting strips, are among the many green infrastructure features that may be woven into a green street design.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Architecture paysagère
  • Aménagement urbain
  • Gestion des ressources en eau
  • Changements climatiques
CONT

Record 2 2023-11-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Urban Planning
  • Water Resources Management
  • Climate Change
CONT

Throughout the development, several streets have been indicated to include additional space for [low-impact] development (LID) approaches and additional stormwater management elements. These green and blue streets are designed to slow down, treat, temporarily store and convey stormwater that falls on site.

OBS

Sponge streets have both green and grey infrastructure to encourage stormwater infiltration along street medians, edges, sidewalks, curbs and/or intersections. The goal of a sponge street is to increase water infiltration and retention as well as to delay or restrict its conveyance to a watershed or treatment facility.

CONT

A device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the catalytic reaction of microorganisms ...

CONT

Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is an environmentally friendly technology for electricity harvesting from a variety of substrates. Microorganisms used as catalysts in the anodic chamber, which are termed as electricigens, play a major role in the operation of MFCs.
