Tracheal cartilages hold the trachea permanently open (patent), but the soft tissue bands in between the cartilages allow flexibility so that the head and neck can move freely without obstructing or kinking the trachea. The absence of cartilage posteriorly allows the trachea to dilate and constrict in response to nerve stimulation, and for indentation as the oesophagus distends during swallowing. 2, record 1, English, - tracheal%20cartilage

2, record 30, French, - Golden%20Horseshoe

For hundreds of years, the French horses bred with little influence from outside breeds. They eventually developed into their own distinct breed - the Canadian Horse or Cheval Canadien. Because they evolved under the adverse conditions of harsh weather, scarce food, and hard work, the Canadian Horse remains the sturdiest and most acclimatized horse in Canada today. They are tough, strong horses, tolerant of inclement weather conditions, and are extremely “easy keepers”. Because of these traits, the Canadian Horse is often referred to as “The Little Iron Horse”. 3, record 39, English, - Canadian%20horse

A large city of Alberta, located on the Bow River, in the southern part of the province, at the meeting of the Canadian prairies and the Rocky Montains foothills. The city started as a trading post (fur trade, bison hunting and illicit-whisky trading) with the construction of a fort named Fort Calgary by the North-West Mounted Police at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers in 1876. (The word Calgary, of Gaelic origin, means "bay farm.") "Fort Calgary" is linked to Canada by the railway in 1883; the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Company laid out its town site where the city now lies. Incorporated under the name "Calgary" in 1884, the town received the city status in 1893. Financial centre of Western Canada and headquarters of Canada's oil and natural gas industries, Calgary, host of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, is the fastest growing Canadian city in the West. 2, record 40, English, - Calgary
