This famous wheat, commonly known as Red Fife or Scotch Fife in North America, is called "red" because that is its colour when fully ripe and "Fife" after David Fife, the Ontario farmer who was the first to grow it in North America when he sowed it on his farm in 1842. The story of how it got there has taken on aspects of myth and legend. It takes place at various locations across two continents: one often needs to look ahead in time, then back, to understand how it happened. (This section is based on Buller, Chapter III, sec. 23, p. 206-218). 2, record 4, English, - Red%20Fife%20Wheat

1, record 15, French, - calfeutrage

The balloon annex usually has a capacity of about 680 tonnes. Built beside the elevator, it is usually 8.2 metres wide, 18.3 metres long, 6.1 metres high and has one partition in the middle which creates two large bins. It is filled by lifting grain within the elevator itself from the pit to the distributor spout and then directing the grain through an added spout to the annex. A 23 centimetre auger, located beneath the floor, is used to empty the annex. The elevator engine is used for power. Grain is brought from the annex into the elevator's back hopper and elevated to one of the elevator's storage bins or into a rail car. 1, record 17, English, - balloon%20annex

1, record 21, French, - pilon
