Air-entraining concretes. All normal concrete contains some air, usually between 0.5 and 1.0%. By the addition of a small amount of an air-entraining agent, the amount of air contained in the concrete may be materially increased to 10% or more (by volume) if desired. This extra air is present in the form of small, discrete air bubbles, which have a marked effect upon the workability, durability, and strength of the concrete. 2, record 26, English, - air%2Dentrained%20concrete

Plastic Concrete - It is of prime importance when selecting materials for a particular construction that the individual materials not only meet the specifications, but also combine into a concrete that can be cast without inducing defects in the concrete which will decrease durability. It is frequently seen that a concrete specification allows for the use of a relatively wide range of materials, e.g. Portland cement vs. slag cement, angular or rounded aggregate, etc. 2, record 43, English, - rounded%20aggregate

An asphalt distributor will spread a coating of asphalt over the surface, which is followed by a chipspreader placing the layer of rock. This rock is then rolled into place with a roller. This process should take about 20 minutes at any one location. No traffic is allowed on the liquid asphalt, and traffic on the unrolled rock will be limited to critical traffic only. After rolling, the road will be reopened to light, slow moving traffic. There are small surface rocks that will roll off into the gutter. This is also normal, and city crews will sweep up the excess aggregate within 24 to 48 hours. Drivers are asked to keep speeds slow to avoid damage to the fresh surface and to avoid throwing loose rocks into windshields. 2, record 45, English, - excess%20aggregate

2, record 45, French, - granulats%20en%20exc%C3%A8s
