The viral load test provides important information that is used in conjunction with the CD4 cell count: to monitor the status of HIV disease, to guide recommendations for therapy, and to predict the future course of HIV. ... A viral load test is ordered when a patient is first diagnosed with HIV. The test result functions as a baseline measurement that shows how actively the virus is reproducing and whether treatment is immediately necessary. If and when therapy is started, your doctor should order a viral load test and a CD4 count about two to eight weeks after you start a treatment to evaluate whether therapy is being effective. ... If the viral load measurement is high, it indicates that HIV is reproducing and that the disease will likely progress faster than if the viral load is low. 4, record 2, English, - viral%20load%20test

The division will continue to improve its capacity to better address other communicable disease issues, including hepatitis C, sexually transmitted illnesses, enteric diseases, and other emerging diseases within the First Nations and Inuit communities. The CDCD is responsible for: Providing national coordination for current CD programmes: Airborne diseases (Tuberculosis Elimination Strategy) Communicable disease health emergencies (Pandemic Influenza) Blood-borne Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections (HIV/AIDS Program) Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (Targeted Immunization Strategy) Assuring core human resource and expert capacity to deal with other CD issues. Since 2003, the CDCD of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) has commissioned independent analyses and conducted internal reviews of the Public Health requirements and capacities of the branch and the populations it serves. 1, record 22, French, - flavivirus
