The term "mini-puberty" refers to the transient activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis that occurs after birth. In males, this activity is most prominent at [two to three] months postnatal age and ends at around [six] months. In females, the axis may be active until age [two to four] years ... During mini-puberty, concentrations of gonadotropin hormones rise secondary to pulsatile release of hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). This leads to detectable serum concentrations of sex steroids, comparable to those seen in healthy adults. 2, record 9, English, - mini%2Dpuberty

Most prostate cancer cells depend on hormones to grow. Hormones such as gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) or luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) are released from the hypothalamus gland in the brain. When these hormones are released, they promote the testicles to produce the male hormone, testosterone. Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) deprives prostate cancer cells of the male hormones (known as androgens) that cancer cells require in order to grow. ADT is the most common therapy used in men with advanced prostate cancer. 3, record 48, English, - androgen%20deprivation%20therapy

3, record 48, French, - traitement%20antiandrog%C3%A9nique

Hyperparathyroidism is overactivity of the parathyroid glands resulting in excess production of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Pourrait-on voir demain des athlètes génétiquement modifiés? [...]

Plasmin is derived from plasminogen, an inert protein precursor that can be activated by tissue factors (called lysokinases) or by contact through factor XII. An activator, urokinase, is also released by blood-vessel lining and is present in normal urine. Certain bacteria produce plasminogen activators, the streptokinase of hemolytic streptococci being the most potent.

Controlled drug delivery occurs when a polymer, whether natural or synthetic, is judiciously combined with a drug or other active agent in such a way that the active agent is released from the material in a predesigned manner. The release of the active agent may be constant over a long period, it may be cyclic over a long period, or it may be triggered by the environment or other external events. In any case, the purpose behind controlling the drug delivery is to achieve more effective therapies while eliminating the potential for both under- and overdosing. 5, record 97, English, - controlled%20drug%20delivery%20system

5, record 97, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20lib%C3%A9ration%20contr%C3%B4l%C3%A9e%20de%20m%C3%A9dicaments
