Hyperparathyroidism due to neoplasms or idiopathic hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands. 2, record 1, English, - primary%20hyperparathyroidism
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Hyperparathyroidism is overactivity of the parathyroid glands resulting in excess production of parathyroid hormone (PTH). The parathyroid hormone regulates calcium and phosphate levels and helps to maintain these levels. Excessive PTH secretion may be due to problems in the glands themselves, in which case it is referred to as primary hyperparathyroidism and which leads to hypercalcaemia (raised calcium levels). 3, record 1, English, - primary%20hyperparathyroidism

1, record 2, French, - ost%C3%A9odystrophie%20h%C3%A9r%C3%A9ditaire%20d%27Albright

The condition produced by greatly reduced function of the parathyroids possibly due to autoimmune disease or genetic factors, or by the removal of those bodies. The lack of parathyroid hormone leads to a fall in plasma calcium level - which may result in increased neuro-muscular excitability and, ultimately, tetany - followed by a rise in plasma phosphate level, resulting in a decrease in bone resorption and consequent increased density of bone. 2, record 3, English, - hypoparathyroidism
