deconvolution microscope : using the deconvolution microscope, researchers can see the locations of target molecules inside the cell. Seeing where glowing molecules reside within a cell is helpful for a range of research projects -- from studies of how the distribution of various proteins changes during an organism's development to investigations of how administration of a drug alters the locations of certain proteins. The microscope, called DeltaVision, is manufactured by Applied Precision, based in Issaquah, Wash. It works by magnifying images and quantifying the intensity of light shed by the sample. The user specifies which colors of light are of interest. For instance, a user can program the microscope to report the intensity of a particular shade of green shining from the cytoplasm of a cell. After a researcher uses the microscope to make a series of optical slices through a specimen, the scope's computer "deconvolves" the images -- in other words, it subtracts the out-of-focus light. Then the computer stacks together the images of the slices to reconstruct the original microscope sample. This gives researchers gh-resolution images of the sample's three-dimensional structure. 2, record 8, English, - wide%20field%20deconvolution%20microscopy

Brightfield microscopy is the most elementary form of microscope illumination techniques ... The name "brightfield" is derived from the fact that the specimen is dark and contrasted by the surrounding bright viewing field. ... In brightfield microscopy a specimen is placed on the stage of the microscope and incandescent light from the microscope’s light source is aimed at a lens beneath the specimen. ... light passes through the specimen and then is collected by an objective lens situated in a turret above the stage. ... This technique can be used to view fixed specimens or live cells. Since many organic specimens are transparent or opaque, staining is required to cause the contrast that allows them to be visible under the microscope. 2, record 10, English, - bright%2Dfield%20optical%20microscopy

The interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) is a part of the Sun's magnetic field that is carried into interplanetary space by the solar wind. The interplanetary mangetic field lines are said to be "frozen in" to the solar wind plasma. Because of the Sun's rotation, the IMF, like the solar wind, travels outward in a spiral pattern that is often compared to the pattern of water sprayed from a rotating lawn sprinkler. The IMF originates in regions on the Sun where the magnetic field is "open" that is, where field lines emerging from one region do not return to a conjugate region but extend virtually indefinitely into space. The direction (polarity, sense) of the field in the Sun's northern hemisphere is opposite to that of the field in the southern hemisphere. (The polarities reverse with each solar cycle). 3, record 20, English, - interplanetory%20magnetic%20field

Radiation doses from sources outside the body may have to be estimated by appropriate assessment of the radiation field, and records of the time spent by an individual in that field. This is considered to be non-personal monitoring. The personal monitoring of selected individuals in a group is considered to be non-personal monitoring of the group as a whole. For sources of radiation inside the body, non-personal monitoring is used most often in the case of an airborne radioactive prescribed substance.

1, record 23, French, - contr%C3%B4le%20g%C3%A9n%C3%A9ral
