Essentially, all sintering is performed on traveling grates of the Dwight-Lloyd type. Ignition is provided by burner hoods located over the grate, and combustion is completed as the material nears the end of the grate.

Dwight-Lloyd ou chaîne d’agglomération. C'est l'outil de la Fonderie le plus compliqué mécaniquement. Le Dwight-Lloyd a pour mission de griller la charge et de l'agglomérer. Il est composé des éléments suivants : 1 trémie pour la couche d’allumage; 1 trémie pour la couche d’allumage; 1 trémie pour la couche principale; 1 hotte d’allumage revêtue de réfractaire; 1 station d’entraînement avec 2 roues de remontée.

OBS

L'allumage se fait à l'aide de brûleurs; ensuite, la combustion du coke se poursuit par aspiration d’air à travers la couche.(...) Des brûleurs sont alors disposés dans une hotte au-dessus de la chaîne [de sintérisation].
