Nuisance particulates is a term used by the ACGIH to describe airborne materials (solids and liquids) which have little harmful effect on the lungs and do not produce significant disease or harmful effects when exposures are kept under reasonable control. Nuisance particulates may also be called nuisance dusts. High levels of nuisance particulates in the air may reduce visibility and can get into the eyes, ears and nose.

8, record 6, French, - syndrome%20des%20b%C3%A2timents%20malsains

1, record 6, Spanish, - s%C3%ADndrome%20del%20edificio%20enfermo

Oleoresin capsicum (OC) is an oily extract of pepper plants of the genus "Capsicum." ... It is used as a spice in salsa, chili, curries, and hot sauces; as a pharmacologic agent in topical anesthetic and analgesic creams; and as the principal active ingredient in OC spray, or "pepper spray," used by police and others as an antipersonnel agent. OC extract consists of a complex mixture of fat soluble phenols known as capsaicinoids; capsaicin (trans-8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) and dihydrocapsaicin, the most potent homologues, make up 80-90% of the total. Capsaicinoid content determines the "hotness" of the extract. 3, record 8, English, - Capsicum%20oleoresin

Oleoresin Capsicum. In the early 1980's Zarc International, Inc. introduced a proprietary "capsicum pepper technology" to be used as a safe and effective non-lethal weapon by military and law enforcement. "Capsicums" are chili peppers which occur in many varieties that range from mild to hot. Capsicum encompasses twenty species and some 300 different varieties of pepper plants. "Oleoresin" is the industrial extraction of the dried ripe fruits of capsicums and contains a complex mixture of highly potent organic compounds. 9, record 8, English, - Capsicum%20oleoresin

8, record 8, French, - ol%C3%A9or%C3%A9sine%20de%20Capsicum

Irritancy is the ability of a material to irritate the skin, eyes, nose, throat or any other part of the body that it contacts. Signs and symptoms of irritation include tearing in the eyes and reddening, swelling, itching and pain of the affected part of the body. Irritancy is often described as mild, moderate or severe, depending on the degree of irritation caused by a specific amount of the material. Irritancy may also be described by a number on a scale of 0 to 4, where 0 indicates no irritation and 4 means severe irritation. Irritancy is usually determined in animal experiments.
