Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
A test for ligamentous instability of the knee performed by stabilizing the femur while placing a valgus stress on the knee by abducting the leg. A moderate joint line separation with the knee fully extended indicates a tear of the medial collateral ligament and the posterior capsule. If the test is only positive in 30 degrees of flexion, it represents an isolated medial collateral ligament tear. A marked medial joint line opening in extension is only possible when both cruciate ligaments are also torn. 3, record 1, English, - abduction%20test

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
1, record 1, French, - man%26oelig%3Buvre%20d%27abduction

Lachman test (drawer test with almost full extension): The examiner grasps the distal thigh with one hand and the proximal lower leg with the other and pulls and pushes the lower leg forwards and backwards in relation to the thigh. Since, in this position of almost full extension, the patient is unable to prevent the drawer movement with his hamstrings, the test is particularly suitable for investigating a recently traumatized joint. 1, record 4, English, - drawer%20movement
