The incident light reading is technically more accurate than reflected light reading because it involves measurement of the brightness of the illuminating source, regardless of the subject. A reflected light reading is taken from camera position, but an incident light reading involves aiming the meter, fitted with an incident light adapter, toward the light source from subject position. On this basis, subjects reproduce as dark or light in the picture according to their natural reflectivity. 1, record 12, English, - incident%20light%20reading

3, record 14, French, - bruit%20de%20marche%20au%20hasard

The laser gyro need not be mechanically dithered. The same result may be achieved by optical devices. A Faraday cell is a piece of crystal, which changes the phase of a light wave traveling through it as a function of an applied magnetic field. The effect is nonreciprocal. A light beam traveling in one direction is advanced in phase, while a light beam traveling in the other direction is retarded in phase. Reversing the magnetic field reverses the effect. Changing the phase of the light beam has the same effect on frequency as changing the path length.

2, record 29, French, - indice%20extraordinaire
