Dental lasers can be categorized by their medium, wavelength, and types of tissue they are used for. Hard-tissue lasers have been used for bone cutting, caries detection, whitening, restorative care and as desensitizers. Soft-tissue lasers are used for the removal of hyperplastic tissue, periodontal care, frenectomies, gingivectomies, gingival recontouring, photostimulation of herpetic lesions and wound healing, with the type of laser depending on the procedure. 2, record 1, English, - dental%20laser

1, record 3, French, - amplification%20de%20la%20lumi%C3%A8re%20par%20%C3%A9mission%20stimul%C3%A9e%20de%20radiations

Particle sizes and distribution can be successfully measured using low angle laser light scattering (LALLS). This technique uses a light source of known wavelength to cause oscillation of the dipoles present in the particles. The electromagnetic energy released from these oscillating dipoles, known as secondary radiation, radiates out in all directions except along the axis of oscillation. The ratio between the wavelength of incident radiation and the particle size will determine the actual light scattering pattern from the particle. 3, record 5, English, - low%2Dangle%20laser%20light%20scattering

1, record 6, French, - nombre%20de%20franges

The lasing phenomenon is made possible by a process called the stimulated emission of radiation. This occurs when a photon interacts with an excited atom, causing it to drop down to a lower energy level. The photon given off by the atom then has the same phase, direction, and polarization as the initial photon. By repeating this process many times, one can produce a highly coherent beam of light. 3, record 7, English, - lasing%20phenomenon
