A system which allows "dialing-in" or adding or subtracting evaluation values (EV) for a given image.

OBS

Compensating involves deciding whether or not the meter reading is under or over exposing and correcting the error. This method allows bringing out details in dark zones or lessening the intensity of bright zones, making the image more acceptable.

Après que l'appareil ait pris en compte le niveau de luminosité selon la méthode de mesure de la lumière(Spot, Centré ou Matricielle), il peut arriver que l'exposition globale soit trop claire ou trop foncée. Une illustration de ce phénomène est l'éclairage de côté avec une importante réflexion des objets entourant le sujet comme il peut être le cas sur la plage ou près de l'eau. Dans ce cas, la compensation de l'exposition peut être utilisée pour forcer le réglage et permettre ainsi d’éclaircir ou d’assombrir l'image.
