The mineral clogging mechanism. Due to the drag force of the water at the interface between the soil and a drain pipe, soil particles may be carried into the pipe via its slots. This process can never be prevented completely, but can be counter-acted by installing an envelope material, often a geotextile, around the drain. Generally, two types of mineral clogging can be detected which are referred to as primary and secondary mineral clogging. Primary clogging is a consequence of the sudden drastic changes in the soil/water boundary conditions, caused by the installation of the subsurface drainage system, and the resulting water flow, including particle transport due to the high hydraulic gradients, towards the newly installed pipes. Secondary clogging is defined as particle transport into filters and/or pipes, in the long term; ... 1, record 3, English, - primary%20mineral%20clogging

anaerobic filter system. A technology used in anaerobic digestion suited to liquid effluents with high levels of dissolved organic matter and relatively low levels of particulate solids. In an anaerobic filter, the biomass is retained by trapping or immobilizing on a fixed carrier which may be in the form of large plates, specially designed random plastic supports, or broken pieces of rock or similar material. The reactor may be run as a continuous process in either an upflow or a downflow mode. Retention of the cells on a support gives a high ratio of solids retention time to hydraulic retention time, permitting high rates of throughput. 2, record 8, English, - anaerobic%20filter%20reactor

A method of dating applicable to material that have one been heated (e.g. pottery, lava flows). A fraction of the energy released by decay of long-lived radioactive nuclides is stored as trapped electrons, and this energy is released as light upon heating. The age of a sample can be determined if the natural thermoluminescence is measured, the thermoluminescence induced by a known radiation dose is measured, and the radiation dose received by the sample per unit time in the past is measured. 1, record 10, English, - thermoluminescent%20dating

1, record 10, French, - datation%20par%20thermoluminescence
