Le «flying scaffold» et le «swing scaffold(or stage) »sont deux types d’échafaudage volant qui diffèrent uniquement par le mode d’amarrage au sommet du bâtiment : le premier est retenu à des poutrelles équilibrées et le second est retenu par un système de moufles et de câbles. Strictement parlant, le terme «flying scaffold» correspond à un «échafaudage volant en bascule»(cf.
