Le chariot élévateur à fourche à contrepoids est le plus répandu en milieu industriel. Il est muni d’un moteur à combustion interne à énergie thermique(diesel, essence, gaz propane ou gaz de pétrole liquéfié(GPL) ou à énergie électrique et de trois ou quatre roues à bandages pleins(ou durs) ou pneumatiques.
