Glide is the process in which the snow cover on a slope slides downhill along the interface with the underlying ground ... When glide rates vary on a slope, a tensile fracture, commonly called a glide crack, forms upslope of the area of faster glide ... where stresses are concentrated ... Full-depth avalanches often follow the formation of a glide crack ... Such glide avalanches are unpredictable, however, because not all glide cracks culminate in avalanches ... and for those that do, the time between crack formation and avalanche release can vary widely, ranging from several hours ... to weeks or even months ... 2, record 10, English, - glide%20crack

Several manufacturers build spreader stokers with air-cooled vibrating or oscillating grates. ... The water-cooled vibrating-grate stoker consists of a tuyere grate surface mounted on ... a grid of water tubes.... The entire structure is supported by a number of flexing plates allowing the grid and its grate to move freely in a vibrating action that conveys coal from the feeding hopper onto the gate and gradually to the rear of the stoker. 2, record 26, English, - vibrating%20grate

"The libration in longitude" is caused by the failure of the moon's rotation and revolution to keep exactly in step throughout the month, although they come out together at the end. The rotation is nearly uniform, whereas the revolution in the elliptical orbit, is not uniform (...) Thus the moon seems to rock in an east-west direction, allowing us to see as much as 7 3/4 ° farther around in longitude at each edge than we could otherwise. 1, record 28, English, - libration%20in%20longitude
