Mulabandha is the root lock. It [is] so called because of its location at the base of [the] nerve tree, the spinal column. There is a difference of location for this bandha in males and in females. In males the seat of mulabandha is the perineal muscle, which is located in front of the anus and behind the genitals. Moola bandha agit sur le corps périnéal et est donc relié à la base du cerveau dans le plancher crânien. Ce système filtre l’énergie et la redistribue dans les zones cérébrales pour maintenir le cerveau actif et conscient. Il sollicite aussi le système nerveux parasympatique qui apporte de la détente aussi bien au niveau cervical que sacré. L’alternance tension/relâchement provoque aussi une détente plus profonde. Cette contraction a une incidence sur le mouvement du péristaltique intestinal et facilite donc une meilleure évacuation. C’est aussi un exercice intéressant pour soulager les hémorroïdes (stagnation de sang) qui sont une conséquence d’une paresse veineuse. La contraction/relâchement de moola bandha active la circulation sanguine.
