Stopping (orbital insertion). The ability to slow down from a heliocentric orbit and to enter a desired orbit around a target planet is a basic requirement for virtually all Augmentation Missions. The Mars Sample Return mission, for example, requires two such orbit insertions. First, the spacecraft must enter orbit around Mars, and later, the Sample Return Capsule must safely enter orbit around Earth to await recovery. 1, record 1, English, - orbit%20insertion

Along-track scanners also use the forward motion of the platform to record successive scan lines and build up a two-dimensional image, perpendicular to the flight direction. However, instead of a scanning mirror, they use a linear array of detectors located at the focal plane of the image formed by lens systems, which are "pushed" along in the flight track direction (i.e. along track). These systems are also referred to as pushbroom scanners, as the motion of the detector array is analogous to the bristles of a broom being pushed along a floor. 3, record 8, English, - along%2Dtrack%20scanner

1, record 11, French, - remorqueur%20interorbital

Solar Orbital Transfer Vehicle (SOTV)GA is a major subcontractor to Boeing on the SOTV, a space vehicle that can efficiently transport space payloads from Low Earth Orbits (LEO) to Geosynchronous Orbits (GEO) while providing kilowatts of electrical power. A solar concentrator heats a graphite receiver up to temperatures of 2400 K. Heat from the graphite receiver is used to heat thermionic converters, which produce efficient, reliable electrical power. Alternately, hydrogen can be passed through passages within the graphite receiver, expanded out a nozzle and used to produce highly efficient propulsion. The SOTV has the potential to double the delivered payload mass to GEO. 2, record 12, English, - solar%20orbital%20transfer%20vehicle

Time transfer by laser link project, T2L2 ... T2L2 sends short bursts of light (100 picoseconds) between clocks on Earth and clocks in space to synchronize them. The experiment, proposed by the Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur (Côte d'Azur Observatory), uses laser ranging stations on the ground and a detection/timing system including a retroreflector in space. Each laser station is linked to the clock on Earth to be synchronized and the onboard detection/timing system is linked to a spaceborne clock. 3, record 17, English, - time%20transfer%20by%20laser%20link
