Le travail des mines de fer à ciel ouvert a permis d’exhumer de magnifiques karsts à aiguilles dans une douzaine de points de Santander et de Vizcaya(le plus connu d’entre eux étant celui de Cabárceno-Peña Cabarga, récemment transformé en parc de loisirs [...]). Sa topographie de détail est déterminée par un dense réseau de couloirs de graphite, formés dans le sens du réseau de diaclases, et par les aiguilles résiduelles de forme conique ou pyramidale, conservées entre les couloirs, et qui peuvent atteindre une hauteur de vingt mètres.
