Trois accessoires jouent dans ce mécanisme un rôle important : une valve constituée d’une bille mobile dans sa cage, un ressort de rappel du piston pour sa remontée et, enfin une tête de diffusion. Fonctionnement : lorsque l'on appuie sur le bouton poussoir, la bille se place en position de fermeture de la chambre de compression, en obturant l'orifice d’entrée supérieure du tube plonger. Inversement, lorsque le piston remonte sous l'effet de la détente du ressort de rappel, la bille remonte, libère l'ouverture du tube plongeur et autorise la remontée d’un volume de liquide égal au volume de la pompe. On comprend ainsi qu'une pompe de ce type ne peut fournir qu'une dose pulvérisée constante, ce qui constitue une caractéristique invariable de la pompe.
