Elle peut être sous forme liquide ou sous la forme d’un spot sur une membrane PVDF après transfert d’un gel d’électrophorèse 2-D. Les quantités nécessaires pour son analyse et une vérification de la séquence sont de l'ordre de 100 pmol(100 pmol=3ug d’une protéine de 30 kDa), soit 1 spot colorable au bleu de Coomassie.
