PODZOLISATION [3 records]

Record 1 2022-06-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Erosion and Weathering (Geol.)
  • Geochemistry
CONT

Pervasive alteration results from extended interaction between basalt and seawater-derived fluid (evolved seawater) under anoxic to suboxic conditions at low temperature (probably 10°-50 °C). Pervasive alteration ceases once secondary minerals fill fluid pathways (i.e., open cracks).

OBS

pervasive; penetrative: terms used at Natural Resources Canada - Earth Sciences Sector.

PHR

Pervasive carbonatization.

PHR

Pervading alteration.

PHR

Penetrative alteration.

PHR

Penetrative metamorphism.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Érosion et corrosion (Géologie)
  • Géochimie
CONT

Record 3 1978-04-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Soil Science
  • Geology
OBS

In early U.S. classification systems, a group of zonal soils having a dark brown to black surface horizon and an underlying, gray leached horizon which in turn rests on a brown horizon. It is developed under an area in which forest vegetation has encroached upon grasslands, and is intermediate between chernozemic and podzolic types.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Science du sol
  • Géologie
OBS
