A 'do not resuscitate' (DNR) decision entails complex medical, legal and ethical issues. The effectiveness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) varies according to the nature of the underlying clinical condition. Other issues which influence a DNR decision include the patients' wishes, the nature of the underlying illness, the relatives' wishes and expected future quality of life. ... a 'do not resuscitate' decision [is] considered appropriate if CPR is not expected to restart a patient's heart and breathing, if there are no benefits to be gained from restarting the patient's heart and breathing and if the expected benefits are outweighed by the burdens. 2, record 1, English, - do%20not%20resuscitate%20decision

2, record 1, French, - d%C3%A9cision%20de%20ne%20pas%20r%C3%A9animer

Le Gîte Ami is a homeless shelter in Hull. Since 1983, homeless persons are provided with temporary shelter for up to seven days per month. During this period, they may obtain meals without headaches and, have access to housing research resources and also obtain income, particularly through employment. The provision of temporary shelter is based on a perspective emphasizing self-empowerment and therefore aims at encouraging these individuals in their own efforts at reintegration into society. In a family atmosphere, these persons may therefore regain their strength and create bonds, both of which are essential for getting off the street. 2, record 2, English, - Le%20G%C3%AEte%20Ami

2, record 2, French, - Le%20G%C3%AEte%20Ami
