The objectives of the study were (a) to characterize the range of photosynthetic responses in ten species of the Dipterocarpaceae and (b) to elucidate those photosynthetic characteristics that might provide a basis for niche partitioning. Seedlings were acclimatized (about 7 months) in three light environments; understorey, partial shade and a gap (140 m2). The light environments represented a gradation in median diurnal (0630-1830 hours) photon flux density (PFD) ranging from understorey ..., through partial shade ... to gap ... Integrated diurnal PFD were in the sequence gap > partial shade > understorey (15.2, 4.7, 1.3 mol m-2 day-1, respectively). 2, record 1, English, - photon%20flux%20density

Plants use the 400 to 700 nm waveband of the light spectrum for photosynthesis. A simple integral relationship exists between the number of molecules changed photochemically and the number of photons absorbed within the requisite waveband regardless of photon energy. The preferred measurement for PAR is Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD). This is the number of photons in the 400 to 700 nm waveband incident per unit time on a unit surface. Plant scientists, meteorologists, horticulturists, ecological survey groups and other environmental scientists are using this [Quantum PAR] sensor to measure PPFD in the atmosphere, growth chamber and greenhouse. 3, record 2, English, - photosynthetic%20photon%20flux%20density

1, record 7, French, - r%C3%A9partition%20spectrale%20%C3%A9nerg%C3%A9tique

Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) is an accurate, precise, and rapid alternative to wet chemistry procedures for determining concentrations of major classes of chemical compounds in organic materials, such as plant foliage. The method utilizes reflectance signals resulting from bending and stretching vibrations in molecular bonds between carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen. Calibration is required to correlate the spectral response of each sample at individual wavelengths to known chemical concentrations from laboratory analyses. 4, record 13, English, - near%20infrared%20reflectance%20spectroscopy

3, record 13, French, - spectroscopie%20de%20r%C3%A9flectance%20dans%20le%20proche%20infrarouge
