O'Driscoll has chosen to distinguish between those methods, where a gel or membrane is formed around an enzyme by polymerization and those methods where the enzyme is retained in a preformed polymer by subsequent formation of a cross-linked network. Microencapsulation and fiber entrapment are clearly other examples of this immobilization technique. 3, record 6, English, - fibre%20entrapment

Recombinant techniques ... allow saturation mutagenesis of selected regions or sites of a gene. By these techniques, families of related enzymes are produced in a single cloning exercise. A population of bacterial colonies so produced will carry the mutant genes; each colony will harbor the gene coding for a single recombinant enzyme. Screening techniques may allow the colonies to be rapidly examined for mutant protein activity. Only the subset of colonies containing active enzymes will require further characterization. A comparison of mutant and wild-type proteins (or genes) will reveal sites that modulate activity or function. 1, record 11, English, - recombinant%20enzyme

The tools of contemporary molecular biology generate a bewildering prospect in that an astronomical number of single amino acid replacements can be generated in even a small enzyme containing only about 100 amino acid residues... Oligodeoxynucleotide-directed mutagenesis allows the systematic replacement of every single amino acid residue in a protein in turn ... Since only a small subset of possible mutant proteins can be examined in the design and production of engineered proteins, target proteins must be carefully considered, and research must be guided by tools such as X-ray crystallography and molecular modeling. Clearly, however, the predictive power of X-ray diffraction techniques and molecular modeling will be much greater for some amino acid substitutions than for others. Mechanism-based inactivation of enzymes will be easy to predict given a known mechanism of action for an enzyme. 3, record 12, English, - amino%20acid%20substitution

1, record 12, French, - substitution%20d%27acide%20amin%C3%A9

This specification defines the Mathematical Markup Language, or MathML. MathML is an XML application for describing mathematical notation and capturing both its structure and content. The goal of MathML is to enable mathematics to be served, received, and processed on the World Wide Web, just as HTML has enabled this functionality for text. This specification of the markup language MathML is intended primarily for a readership consisting of those who will be developing or implementing renderers or editors using it, or software that will communicate using MathML as a protocol for input or output. It is not a User's Guide but rather a reference document. 1, record 18, English, - Mathematical%20Markup%20Language%20%28MathML%29%20Version%202%2E0

This document describes CC/PP (Composite Capabilities/Preference Profiles) structure and vocabularies. A CC/PP profile is a description of device capabilities and user preferences. This is often referred to as a device's delivery context and can be used to guide the adaptation of content presented to that device. The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is used to create profiles that describe user agent capabilities and preferences. The structure of a profile is discussed. Topics include: structure of client capability and preference descriptions, AND use of RDF classes to distinguish different elements of a profile, so that a schema-aware RDF processor can handle CC/PP profiles embedded in other XML document types. CC/PP vocabulary is identifiers (URIs) used to refer to specific capabilities and preferences, and covers: the types of values to which CC/PP attributes may refer, an appendix describing how to introduce new vocabularies, an appendix giving an example small client vocabulary covering print and display capabilities, and an appendix providing a survey of existing work from which new vocabularies may be derived. 1, record 19, English, - Composite%20Capability%2FPreference%20Profiles%20%28CC%2FPP%29%3A%20Structure%20and%20Vocabularies%201%2E0

1, record 19, French, - Les%20profils%20composites%20de%20capacit%C3%A9s%2Fpr%C3%A9f%C3%A9rences%20%28CC%2FPP%29%20%3A%20structure%20et%20vocabulaires%201%2E0

Record number: 34, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 34, French, - ferme%20%C3%A0%20chevrons%20relev%C3%A9s

Officer personnel data is provided by a coding system based on the officer structure and its associated specifications. Most major personnel data is stored by computer in the Personnel Master File (PMF) at NDHQ. From this control data source reports are generated such as the Resource Management Report (REMAR) used by the manpower distribution directorate at NDHQ and by field units to fill establishment positions; the Career Management Report (CREMAR) for career managers to determine career progression and employment; and the Record of Service (form CF 490) which summarizes all personnel data pertaining to an individual officer (but not miscellaneous qualifications) (501.2b). 1, record 37, English, - personnel%20data
