The botanical name for the bromeliad or pineapple family of plants is Bromeliaceae. There are 60 genera containing some 1400 different species. Bromeliads grow within a wide area in southern U.S.A., Central and South America: from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and including the islands of the West Indies and the Caribbean. This family is among the most versatile of the whole plant kingdom, for its members grow in almost every kind of habitat. Numerous bromeliads grow on trees and enormous cacti, and even on telephone wires. Some species that grow high in trees are often called air plants or air pines because they appear to take their nourishment solely from the atmosphere. 3, record 4, English, - bromelia

3, record 6, French, - palier%20%C3%A0%20air

Bench Method. Whichever hauling equipment or technique you choose, you must get as close as possible to the trunks to be loaded or bring them as close as possible to the trail to facilitate loading. The bench method can enable you, with reasonable effort, to bring the felled trees manually to within a 10-metre radius of the track. This method consists in creating a workbench from the felled trees themselves. It enables you to work with your back straight and to move the trunks without unreasonable effort. The first tree is felled and prepared so as to act as a support for other trees that will be felled on top of it. It must be quite steady, since the impact and weight of felled trees can crush the support and make it less useful. 1, record 12, English, - bench%20method
