Después de terminada la gran guerra, se ciñe una incertidumbre sobre el rumbo de la economía mundial, Gran Bretaña que finalizaba una larga hegemonía y Estados Unidos quien no terminaba de definirse como líder económico del mundo pero que buscaba establecer las bases para tomar lo más pronto posible el papel hegemónico que tanto anhelaba. Aunque desde puntos de vista distintos, empezaron a conceder importancia a los problemas de la economía de la posguerra, impulsados por la necesidad común de una cooperación internacional. El resultado fueron los acuerdos de Bretton Woods.

The Federal /Provincial/Territorial Advisory Committee on AIDS (F/P/T AIDS) was established in 1988 by the Conference of Deputy Ministers of Health (CDMH) in order to provide HIV/AIDS policy advice on issues of national relevance to Deputy Ministers. Since that time, the F/P/T AIDS has received on-going funding through the Treasury Board process. In 1998, F/P/T AIDS was redirected from being an advisory committee reporting directly to CDMH to being a subcommittee of the newly formed Advisory Committee on Population Health (ACPH). The F/P/T AIDS's mission : contribute to a decrease in the incidence, prevalence, and burden of HIV infections in Canada. Its mandate : provide public health policy and programmatic advice on issues and priority initiatives related to HIV/AIDS in Canada; promote timely, effective, and efficient intergovernmental and inter-jurisdictional collaboration on the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in Canada; promote the generation of knowledge and its application in developing evidence-based responses to HIV/AIDS in Canada.

Le Comité fédéral-provincial-territorial sur le sida(FTP sida) est né en 1988 à l'initiative de la Conférence des sous-ministres de la santé(CSMS). Depuis, le FTP sida a droit à un budget permanent établi par le Conseil du Trésor. En 1998, le FTP sida a changé de statut. De comité consultatif directement redevable à la CSMS il est devenu un sous-comité du nouveau Comité consultatif sur la santé de la population(CCSP). Sa mission est d’aider à réduire le taux d’incidence et de prévalence des affections à VIH au Canada, ainsi que le fardeau qui y est associé. Son mandat est de dispenser des conseils sur les programmes et les politiques de santé publique en ce qui concerne les questions et initiatives prioritaires en matière de VIH/sida au Canada; de favoriser une collaboration efficace et efficiente des administrations et des instances aux mesures de prévention et de prise en charge de la question du VIH/sida au Canada; de favoriser la génération des connaissances et leur application à des mesures fondées sur des résultats cliniques dans le contexte du VIH/sida au Canada.
