... feed efficiency has been considered as one of the important parameters in assessing the potential of bird strain or feeding program, etc. In [North] America the value is calculated by dividing feed intake by weight gain, and so values of around 1.9 are common for 42 [day] old birds. In some European countries, the efficiency is calculated as weight gain divided by feed intake, and a corresponding value would be 0.53. Whatever system is used, measures of feed efficiency are useful in describing feed intake in relation to growth rate. Feed efficiency is, therefore, a useful measure of performance as long as all other factors affecting both growth and feed intake are either minor or do not vary from flock to flock. 2, record 1, English, - feed%20efficiency

1, record 1, French, - indice%20de%20consommation

Despite the generally positive outlook for the transition countries, considerable uncertainty attaches to their long-term growth potential. … One of the most encouraging characteristics of the transition countries is the high level and quality of education, which suggests an advantage in terms of human capital, notwithstanding a considerable need for retraining. 3, record 2, English, - long%2Dterm%20growth%20potential

2, record 2, French, - potentiel%20de%20croissance%20%C3%A0%20long%20terme

Growth is expected to moderate from this rapid pace but remain above the U.S. economy's potential growth rate of just over 2.0 per cent, averaging 3.1 per cent in 1993 and 3.0 per cent in 1994. This will still leave some excess productive capacity at the end of 1994. 1, record 3, English, - potential%20growth%20rate
