Il faut noter que la dénomination de spécialité laitière peut également désigner «une voisine» du beurre. C'est une émulsion de matières grasses(mélange d’huile et/ou de beurre), d’eau, de lait ou de dérivés du lait. Une spécialité laitière à tartiner apporte moins de matières grasses que le beurre(entre 20 et 40 %). Elle est souvent enrichie en acides gras essentiels(Oméga 3), utiles au bon fonctionnement du système cardio-vasculaire, et peut être à teneur garantie en vitamine A, E et D.
