Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
When a partly developed image is briefly exposed to actinic light, the final developed image becomes reversed. This is because in areas where the negative image had started to form, the emulsion is desensitized by the oxidation products of development. The result is that the extra exposure affects only the shadow areas of the original negative so that the final image is a positive. This type of reversal is known as the Sabattier effect, after its discoverer. 6, record 4, English, - Sabattier%20effect

6, record 4, French, - effet%20Sabattier

Talbot was the inventor of the negative/positive method of photography that produced a paper print. Even though the process made possible the production of numerous prints from a paper negative, the paper print was not immediately popular. A telephoto is a long-focus lens incorporating some light diverging elements at the camera end. These have the effect of making the lens-image distance less than the focal length would otherwise require. The telephoto is therefore shorter than a lens of conventional design, although it has the same focal length. Both give images of identical size. 5, record 17, English, - telephotographic%20lens
